End of the Year Countdown

by | May 17, 2016

Friday, May 6th, marked the final Friday of the semester cooking for Kappa Kappa Gamma at the University of Georgia, and these last few days sure are bittersweet. Countless students have said, “I have no idea what I’m going to do for food next semester,” some are sad they are leaving before the final meal, and others promised to visit.

This was my first full year with the same group of students, and it’s hard to see them go. The group threw us a baby shower when they heard of my daughter’s impending arrival, and many of them were the first to hold her outside of family.

If someone had told me 18 months ago that I would be getting choked up at seeing my students move on, I would’ve said they were crazy, yet here I am. In the same breath, I can’t think of a better way to make a living.

Here’s to another good semester and, hopefully, many more to come.
