by | Jan 14, 2019

Oatmeal in a jar provides endless flavor combinations, as well as a quick alternative to hold you over until lunch. Students know all too well about the “on the go” lifestyle, and this recipe should help keep you moving!

Let’s get started. Use any combination of fresh or freeze dried fruit for a crunchy and sweet taste. Some of the more popular combos include Apples & Cinnamon, Raspberries & Dark Chocolate, Triple Berry, Blueberries & Cream and more!

– Simply, grab a jar, you can use 1/2 pint jars or even cups with lids!
– Add 1/2 cup of dry rolled or old fashioned oats to the bottom of the jar
– Add your favorite fruit combo to the top of the oats
– Seal tightly, and store until you are ready to eat! It’s that simple.

When ready to serve:
– Pour 1 cup of boiling water or milk in to each jar.
– Let sit for 10-20 minutes.
– Grab a spoon and go!

Chef Patricia Rieger at University of Minnesota has recently concocted a similar snack for the women of Alpha Omicron Pi, creating sweet cups with inserts and lids for parfaits and snacks “on the go”, to make life just a bit easier and tastier.
